This museum is located in what was an elementary school that was built during the Manhattan Project days. It's a great place to take a group of elementary-aged children or your own children. There's everything from an Appalachian-living exhibit, to a life-size doll house, to model trains.
This place is great. We have gone each time we have visited grandparents and the kdis love it. There is this life size doll house that my 4 year old spent 2 hours in, a train section that my 2 year old was hard to pry away from, and so much rich history for kids and adults regarding the Manhattan... 更多
My almost three year old son had a blast learning about musical instruments, bird habitats, and the rainforest. I think his favorite parts were the model trains, the water area, and the dollhouse area though. These were perfect for little ones that want to watch and touch! This museum is not only for kids but my husband and I learned a lot about the Manhattan Project and the "Secret City" of Oak Ridge. Very informative historical exhibits as well as several rooms/exhibits for kids 12 and under. Plan about 2 hours to have enough time for a thorough visit.
We were in town visiting family and decided to take all the kids to visit the museum. We arrived about two hours before closing. The kids had a blast and we had to "drag" the kids out at closing time. They really enjoyed the dollhouse, trains and rainforest exhibits.
This Museum is NOT just a Children's Museum, BUT is also great learning experience for any and all ages. Displays of Actual Pictures and Memorabilia from SECRET CITY DAYS Lots to see and do. Not a QUICK Stop. Has increased in size over the past 30 years. You see the schools as well as how the Fenced City was kept... 更多
We visited the Museum today with our 2 daughters & a 4 yr old grandchild. It's not just a museum, it's a hands on experience for small children. Great place to bring young children. We adults enjoyed it too. Very inexpensive if you're looking to spend some time (2-4 hrs) indoors and see how life was spent in the last 70... 更多
My 7-year-old grandson and I loved this place! He walked through and played through with a smile on his face the whole time. His favorite room was the Waterworks, although I agree with another reviewer that it needs improvement. Was glad to see snacks on sale in the middle of the museum. Thanks! Some of the exhibits, such as the... 更多
