Lovely walks and lots of wildlife to see, birds, butterflies, red squirrels and orchids. Plenty of way marked walks of differing lengths although it would have been helpful if we could have found a leaflet with them marked on but they had not arrived yet when we were there. We visited late Spring on a glorious day - a day trip out from Manchester. The beach is a real hidden treasure. Easy car parking at a reasonable price for the whole day, and close to the beach with convenient access. The woods and dunes are very well preserved and the long beach is just amazing. In the winter you get the stormy seas and in the summer you can play on the beach. There is a barrier entrance (fee payable) but this now seems to be during the day only. This has got to be one of the UK's most beautiful beaches. Perfect for a long walk, worth venturing to the little island to see the ancient ruins and the wild ponies.
Visited here on a beautiful warm May day,amazing soft sand and lots of walks where there were signs to tell you how long to run/walk etc,lots of disabled spaces(husband in wheelchair)great board walk to walk along to beach only problem was the sand had blown so wheelchair could only go halfway(perhaps wardens could brush occasionally as this an amazing facility).Even... 更多
