The staff are really on the ball here. I had hardly stepped inside before somebody came to warn me that the doorways were low and that the upper storeys and roof were closed because of the rain. If you make your way - slowly - up to the first floor, you reach the former castle hall where there is a... 更多
Having visited Stranraer numerous times and seen the Castle from the outside, we decided it was time to visit inside! We were given a quick health and safety warning and then we were free to explore. The various rooms provide information from when the building was a castle and then a jail. It was very informative. We particularly liked the... 更多
I got here a bit late on a Sunday so it was already closed. The outside looks really cool and there was an info board outside that peaked my interest. I will definitely be back when it is open. The town itself is lively with shops, restaurants, and nice public gardens. Well, worth a stop.

Amazing medieval pele tower or mini-castle, now a museum in town centre. I climbed to the top, up the spiral stone stairs; was rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view of the town and the coast. On the way down, I visited each room, listened to former inhabitants telling their story and watched the video about the history of Stranraer and... 更多
A very interesting and well presented exhibition about the castle's history and its place in Stranraer. Quite unexpected and well worth a visit
