We visited this as a part of a Highland Heritage coach tour and have to say it's a stunning experience. The house is wonderful - what particularly took my fancy was the chapel and the ceilings throughout the building, stunningly, stunningly wonderful. I've only given it 4 stars as we were on a 'walk at your own pace tour' and... 更多
We were privileged to be invited to share in the wedding celebrations of good friends. We were a party of approximately 100. We were treated like royalty throughout. The staff are very well trained, and the service is beyond excellent,as was the food and drink. This was a most memorable occasion, thanks to all concerned.
The House and Gardens are all fantastic. The tearoom at the main house however shows "how not to run a tearoom" in every aspect. One member of staff.....slow service.... tepid soup....mediocre selection....expensive.....the chairs/tables are modern metal and uncomfortable and not in keeping with the Gothic style room. Musty smell...no atmosphere. The Visitor Centre used to have a first floor cafe... 更多
Make sure you go on the guided tour - we went with Jim on the 1100 architecture and design tour and it was WONDERFUL. Our smallish group were ushered into all sorts of places that aren't usually open to the public - we even got to go up a secret stair! He was witty, interesting and happy to answer questions... 更多
Britain's most spectacular Victorian gothic house - is an amazing building to see. You will walk around with your mouth open in wonder! It is truly an incredible building, so many amazing features and things to see.. No expense can have been spared in creating this amazing place.. I like the way that rather than visitors following a guide around... 更多
MOUNT STUART is my favourite (small) stately home. Jam packed with interesting, fascinating, unique features. The wooden carving in the fining room is wonderfully detailed. Marble, marble - everywhere. Glorious. Original artwork galore. The Shakespeare folios are THE find of the Century & available to view in the library. You are allowed to take none-flash photos.
Visited with a group of friends from Cardiff. Strong connection as Cardiff Castle once belonged to the Marquis of Bute, before he donated it to the city. This is a beautiful house containing many surprises and treasures. The similarity with Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch, both former homes of the Bute family is not surprising as Burgess carried out work... 更多
We only visted the house as the weather was not brilliant. The guided tour by an entertaining and very informative guide was first class. There is lots more to see but don't miss the guided tour.
