If you just want to wander around town, it's fine. But it's away from the college and downtown. Aside from the Sunsphere, and a few outdoor areas, not a lot to do.
The World's Fair Park is close to the river and is dominated by the World's Fair Tower built in 1982. From the tower you get 360 degree views of the city. Entry is free. We wanted to go up in it but couldnt find a parking area to park. Its not clear. My mom was here during the worlds fair and i just wanted to see it. took a nice picture of it. They need to let people know where to park.
A nice park for quick quiet stroll. Pretty, but not a lot to see, and not much left of the World's Fair held here in 1982, besides the Sunsphere. I could be wrong. There's not a lot of information on the Knoxville Fair. Who remembers those, are they even still held?
I looked up information on Knoxville, this coming up as a main attraction. The Sunsphere was neat to go up into but there wasn't much of anything else to do.
This is a beautifully landscaped park with walking paths and restroom facilities. The sphere was the center piece of the World's fair and is an iconic statement.
My wife and I visited here last summer and you can't find a much more beautiful park. Located in the heart of Knoxville, this is a must see stop while in town.
