We decided to make a stop at this museum to find out what it was about, so glad we did! What a critical piece of American history that is almost lost. They have so many interesting artifacts in the museum, the attendant was very friendly and helpful, and the view at the top of the tower is worth the stop... 更多
We had just finished some antiquing at " Grandma's Attic", and just down the street was the tower. We had some time and interest. The video history of the homesteads was very interesting and revealing. Most of the displays came from the actual Homestead houses. I've been here a couple times and find it very interesting. There is a lot of History to learn about here. Learn about how the housing in the area grew and who built Cumberland Mtn. State Park.
Lots of memorabilia from FDR’s New Deal, a map of the neighborhoods “with Homesteads” including notes, photos, and letters by the families themselves, were all very interesting. You can also climb the 97 steps to the top of the water tower to have a scenic view of the area. Do not miss the opportunity to visit the “Homestead House” which... 更多
This site is a bit off the highway but it's enjoyable scenery and a welcome break from high speed! We didn't even know about this FDR program until we stopped. It was interesting to see the inside of a home and hear about the different house styles. We're glad the interpreter recommended we see the exhibits at nearby Cumberland Mountain... 更多
My boyfriend and I visited this on a whim one evening. We liked that we were able to explore on our own. However, the very top of the tower was littered with dead bugs everywhere including the crazy amounts of living flies flying around in a 5 foot space. Everything else was great though, and the view was fantastic.
