Our Family visited the Polk House and was very impressed with the accomplishments of President Polk. The movie was very informative. The house was average in interest. Our tour guide was very interesting and did a good job. Allow about 1 hour for the visit.
There is a video that gives a quick overview of the history of the house and President Polk. A small museum shows a timeline of his life. The tour of the home includes two floors. I loved the history steeped in this place. It was very enjoyable. Seeing how things worked back then, with the kitchen separated from the rest of the home to prevent fires. I really liked the sundial in the beautiful garden too.
We were driving back from Lynchburg to Franklin and decided to swing by. I have to say, for $10 we were very disappointed.
