Do not confuse with the nearby cave. This place is absolutely beautiful and offers some of the finest, unspoiled views in the area. They have a nice walkway by the river and picnic tables literally right up against the river. There were some fishermen along the bank and other riding bikes.
If you want to see a big government project, this is one for you, they pump water up, then let it out to generate electricity. Went there for the mountain bike trails, which were good, with various skill levels.
When we visited in April, the Visitors' Center was being redone. At that time, there was just one bathroom available near the picnic tables. We thought there would be more hiking trails in the area, but we did enjoy the views. We had our picnic lunch on one of the tables. it was not crowded on a weekday afternoon in... 更多
A nice place to fish (catfish that is) Took the grandsons and they loved it. Spent the whole day. Took the Motor Home and my wife took breaks while we fished. Not many people were there that day. They have on sight security and we felt very comfortable. You could do many things there, ride bikes, camp on around past... 更多
Wow, what a place to go walking/hiking. I have been there a few times walking the main road (about 2.5 miles) around. This was a find at the recommendation from a guide at Racoon Mountain. So glad we ventured out to the damn. This was very interesting for the drive, sights, and views were soooo beautiful!!! This area is awesome for road biking. Traffic is minimal during the week and the road quality is excellent. Great views and great places to stop for a rest. Just be aware that your speeds can exceed 40 mph easily, so make sure you have good tyres, and great braking.
This is a good choice to get a good view from the mountain without all the traffic of Lookout Mountain. Visitor center is currently closed, but lots of nice hiking and biking trails
We really enjoyed going up there - and although the Visitor Center is being refurbished right now the area is still worth a visit - clean restrooms and beautiful picnic area available - nice and relaxing just to take in the scenery!!
