The Walnut Street Bridge is a great city park open everyday from dawn to dusk. You won't find a better view of the Tennessee River, downtown Chattanooga and the Historic NorthShore.
This place is an easy walk from the aquarium. It is a nice walk across the river and to see the attractions from the other side, especially the Hunter museum. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view and interesting facts along the span. My fear of heights did not kick in.
We love to walk across the bridge at night or during the day. We've seen joggers, bikers, musicians and families. It's a beautiful walk--no matter what the season. And we usually stop off at the Ice Cream Show for a yummy treat!
Enjoyed a beautiful breezy day walking across this famous bridge and downtown Chattanooga. Don't miss the Ice Cream Show at the end of the bridge. Great little treat to enjoy as you walk around town. Visit the pier area and soak up some sun.
We live in Chattanooga, and we visit downtown several times a month. The downtown riverfront area is compact enough to park once, walk to lunch or dinner at one of the outstanding local restaurants, and then continue to the theater or Aquarium or Coolidge Park, and walk back. The Walnut Street Bridge is the best part of that walk. It... 更多
Northshore is a fun place to walk around - lots of great restaurants and shops as well as Coolidge Park - and the Walnut Street bridge is a fun way to get there from downtown. You'll get some great views of the river, and the walk is easy and enjoyable. Wandering around the Bluff View Arts District, walking across the... 更多
This was a great walking bridge and we visited Coolidge Park with a carousel. The carousel was only a dollar to ride in was open till 7 PM.
We ended our Chattanooga vacation with a late night stroll down this historic bridge. Very scenic, especially at night with the steam boats passing by. We enjoyed the river breeze and casual atmosphere of young love, dogs getting exercise and the night setting. We were also riveted by the story of Ed Johnson and to know this history made the... 更多
We read reviews on here that this was a nice spot to stop and walk so we headed there one evening after dinner and it really is such a nice little walk. You see the Downtown area of Chattanooga and it's such a pretty sight. Definitely worth checking out. I would just do it early next time to see more.
A very special place for our family. Our granddaughter got engaged on the bridge a couple of years ago. It's a walking only bridge across the Tennessee river with a beautiful view of downtown Chattanooga.
The Walnut Street Bridge (pedestrians only) connects the Tennessee Aquarium/Ross's Landing side of downtown Chattanooga with the Northshore area, which includes Coolidge Park and Renaissance Park (which is dog friendly). The bridge is dog-friendly as long your dog is leashed. Great place to walk with or without a dog.
Good way of crossing the river without battling cars. Lots of history here, including lynchings, but you can only find out about it after doing your own research. I've been told there are street vendors here but we did not see any (weekday). Popular with joggers.
Honestly, you have to take the time to walk around downtown Chattanooga to enjoy it. And a trip across the Walnut Street (pedestrian only) Bridge over the Tennessee River will have you saying, man, I am glad we did that! Walk around, see the sites, eat a some of their many good restaurants, and just enjoy a renovated, invigorated place.
