My husband and I were thoroughly surprised and engrossed by the amazing amount and variety of instruments from around the world. The audio tour was an additional bonus that included samples of music played by the instruments on view.
We could not have been more surprised to find such an excellent music museum. The displays and the mobile tour guide were outstanding. Seeing instruments that are 400-500 years old is incredible - some still are played. There are exotic instruments, as well as guitars used by famous performers. A must see!!
Anyone interested in music or history should visit this museum. It contains a remarkable collection of instruments of all types. Get the audio tour to learn more about several of the exhibits.
The National Music Museum is a very interesting place. Admission is reasonable, and there is a small gift shop. Open year-round. For no extra charge, you can augment the visit by using a device with a headset to hear the instruments and learn snippets of its history. Self-guided, no formal tours. There are very clear visual interpretations as well. The... 更多
It's hard to believe such an incredible collection of musical instruments is tucked away in South Dakota. Only a small portion of their tens of thousands of instruments are on display, but they represent every area of the globe and hundreds of years of history. The collection highlights famous makers, like Stradivarius and Gibson, but also traces the development of... 更多
I need more time! From 500 year old western musical instruments to the gamelon of Indonesia, there is so much to see! I can't believe I got to see five Stradivari instruments in one room as well as the oldest cello, viola and oldest playable harpsichord. Those archlutes! The Hardinger Fiddles - wondrous works of art! I can go on... 更多
My husband and I are professional orchestra musicians who make a point of visiting this museum when we are nearby. We have loved it for years, but saw a big improvement with the audio guide that they loan you from the last time we were there. The building is a lovely old Carnegie library, and thus is rather small. We... 更多
This is a world class attraction in a very out of the way place; worth a special trip. The National Music Museum is among the top two or three in the world and has a collection rivaling that of the music museum in Paris. The collection includes a number of one-of-a-kind items, particularly among the Nothern Italian string instruments, which... 更多
Great visit for any music lover. Large amount of instruments on display. Lots of neat history, too. Interactive headset to hear the sound of the instrument. Worth a visit and am sure we will return.
