I have toured this Museum several times. It is informative and free. The location is interesting as it is located in the tunnel that connects Sanford Hospital to the Van DeMark Building on the other side of 18th street.
This museum is quite literally under the driveway/street of Sanford Hospital. So if you can find Sanford Hospital, it's easy from there. This is a very interesting museum dedicated to the history of medicine in the Sioux Falls and eastern South Dakota area. Tools, uniforms, treatments and care were all outlined and it is wonderful to see how far medicine has come. Sioux Falls has become a "medical mecca" with 3 major health care facilities as well as the branch-offs from each.... 更多
Very interesting to see the medical tools of another era...and yet, I recognized items that are still being used in today's medicine. Price is right - free! and helpful volunteers(?) to answer questions.
Museum is in the basement of the Sanford Hospital complex. Hard to find but well worth the effort. Staffed usually by very knowledgeable, retired health care workers, it has a variety of medical equipment used in days gone by...including an iron lung.
