There are some really neat old buildings in Deadwood...the Franklin Hotel, the Midnight Star building, the Iron Horse Inn building to name a few. The facades of many downtown buildings are in keeping with the late 1800 period. Go inside many of them, though, and you will find some pretty generic casinos. The #10 is still interesting. There are plaques... 更多
Downtown is full of decorations and the shops are so cozy. The historical details of the architecture are very interesting. Feels like walking though the song "It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas" from 1951.
The downtown Deadwood is historic, idyllic but also super touristy. It's been made known worldwide by the tv show Deadwood and that was the reason we visited the place. But nevertheless it's idyllic and historic and definitely worth a visit.
Stopped in for a visit, watched the tv show, seen in movies and had to see for myself. It is great historic town, while walking around you can imagine what it may have been like a hundred years ago, it conjures up thoughts of gun fights, gambling halls, it is filled with old buildings, you walk into The Old #... 更多
This was a real step back in time. The monuments, the buildings and the fact that the sun did not seem to hit the main street and it was cold. There is a good statue of Wild Bill Hikock, seated in the Main St. There was also a notice about when there was to be a shoot out. All great... 更多
This is worth a stop when visiting this part of the state. We left a visit here for early evening when the shops were open and we can have dinner at the same time. I would not come here as a day thing or take away from any of the beautiful nature things people can do in this part of... 更多
Much of the historic ambience has been maintained. People/characters in period costumes walk the streets. There are several gunfights/shootouts a day. In Saloon #10 "Wild Bill" narrates the story of his murder. Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried in Deadwood and their grave sites can be visited for a fee.
Great place to walk along, shop, gamble, window shop and dine. Many signs explaining who, what, when and where in history passed by these buildings. It's an easy walk, the day was warm and sunny, we stopped in many of the shops and found the prices to be in line with the area. Look for the black signs with white... 更多
My greatest regret was not having a full week to walk up & down the streets & into every single Shop, Saloon & Restaurant!! This town has worked unbelievably hard to preserve its western heritage. Every storefront conjures up wonderful old western movies from long ago. The people who work in these amazing shops & restaurants seem to really love... 更多
