The Church's remaining tall columns, walls and slabs. The many tombstones and the crypts. The many large trees with the foliage and willows. These all add to the beauty and charm of this place. It is an hour worthwhile drive from Charleston.
A beautiful setting for wandering. If you are into old architecture, old cemeteries or are looking for a beautiful setting for a wedding, this is something you will want to see.
My husband and I love art, architecture, and history and after taking a tour with Bonaventure Don (see my separate review), he recommended we stop by the Old Sheldon Church Ruins as he was sure we would appreciate it. We are history buffs and this place is right our alley! Very beautiful and majestic, is in the middle of nowhere which only adds to the mystique.
If you love history, this place is a very pretty visit that wasn't too busy when we were there. There were two other families that had stopped in and then left. Maybe a nice place for a picnic - there were tables on the grounds. Parking is across the street.
