Yo can almost feel the soldiers here. We were told the site is being updated ....... once they update is complete this place will be even better!!! The grounds were fairly clean and the beach was really nice. No restrooms though.
Think Mayan Tulum, the Forest Moon of Endor & The Planet of the Apes all bundled up. Why this hasn't been used as a filming location for a horror or sci-fi movie is beyond me. At first glance, such a creepy space. I'll admit the heebie jeebies never went away. Perhaps due to the proximity to the famed paranormal Lands... 更多
This was a wonderful find for us to take our cub scouts to. We all enjoyed exploring the abandoned rooms & the beach front behind it was an extra surprise. Its out in the middle of no where and wasn't busy at all. There's no price to get in, which was also great. There was enough parking for us all... 更多
I am a complete nerd when it comes to history and abandoned places. So naturally I jumped on the opportunity to visit an abandoned fort. It's definitely worth the time to stop and take a look of you share my interests in history. I plan on revisiting on my next trip to Hunting Island
I enjoyed visiting this site as exploring old abandoned buildings is a draw for me. You do need to watch for wildlife (snakes, birds, lizards, frogs). I happened to see a copperhead just inside one of the doorways so it made me extra cautious. It's shame that some punks decided to put graffiti all over the walls inside but that... 更多
I really enjoyed the 30 minute walk through the fort area. This was a new piece of history for me, especially seeing how recently the fort was in use. Although there were signs explaining the history, I had to go on line to get the broad view. There was little on site to explain what we were seeing. The structure... 更多
We're glad you saw the two signs. The Friends of Fort Fremont and Beaufort County are working now to improve... 更多
This could be a really nice place if it were to receive better care. It is so sad looking and there is no signage. It would have been nice to see some kind of explanations. Walking around inside of the bunker was frightening, I kept waiting to be grabbed or finding a dead body. There is no light! It's such... 更多
Sorry, you must have missed the sign and brochures inside the gate. We are working to make it safer, and... 更多
Turn right onto Fort Fremont Reserve and bring your sneakers. Plan on spending some time here. Parking is free and there are multiple passages, doorways and staircases to discover! My biggest complaint is that it has been unfortunately littered with trash, broken glass and graffiti, some of which is not suitable for young eyes. I wish so badly that people... 更多
We went here one Sunday afternoon to get some photos. What a great piece of history. You can walk around the back of the battery and walk on the beach. Great place to explore!
The fort was built to help protect Port Royal Sound so it's at what's called "Lands End" on St Helena Island. There's not much info on the fort unless you take a guided tour which I'm told is run the last Saturday of each month. Also the local library branch has a model of the fort. We enjoyed the visit... 更多
