First thing to say is that I was there off season - the week after Thanksgiving. From what I understand my experience is vastly different than during prime season. If you love to walk on the beach, then this is a great destination. They are currently working on reclaiming sand, so there is a huge pipe, but this process in ensuring a beautiful beach for generations to come. We enjoyed watching the dolphins and penquins. Just lovely.

We are regular visitors in October / November and the beach remains beautiful, but very aware there is considerable damage in adjoining areas with trees down, houses damaged following the Hurricane Matthew. There is debris and trees being cut down and removed. The beach is still a terrific place to walk and relax.
Have been going to the Coligny Beach area for over 30 years. The fall and spring, when schools are in session, are the best times Can be a bit congested in the summer. Has several nice specialty shops and good places to eat adjacent to the beach.
Coligny beach gets way too crowded!!! If you like hanging with the masses then Coligny Beach is for you. But if you like more privacy and better managed beaches then go to Palmetto Dunes area of Hilton Head. Much, much nicer than the Coligny area.
