This is an excellent stop on your Columbia, SC Museum trek. Lots of guns, weapons, artillery, uniforms, vehicles, and more to see. Wide open and well lit. Huge weapons collection. Make sure you stop here along with the State Museum, Confederate Relic Room, and Fort Jackson Museum while in Columbia. I heartily recommend all of them.
It is sad to think of the history of South Carolina and how little has been done to officially preserve some of it. The SC military history museum does just that, on the grounds of the National Gaurd station, they have a trmendous array of rare artifacts from the civil wat all the way to the most recent conflicts. My dad and I visited the South Carolina Military Museum after reading great online reviews about it and were very pleased that we drove the 1.5 hour trip to see it. The state and U.S. military history exhibits on display are very nice and informative. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and it a must see for any military... 更多
It's a small museum but full of details, artifacts, historical events, places and people. A lot of collections of war relics.

The museum is on the National Guard base. Since I have a military ID getting on was no problem; might be a little intimidating for non-military. The museum staff said there was a way to... 更多
As a old Marine I am always interested in Military Museums . This one did not let me down . There is an amazing amount of history shown in this Museum.
Interesting and professionally run museum highlighting the military history of the state in general and the SC National Guard, State Guard and militias. Also has an extensive collection of firearms from the Ross Beard collection.
This is such a gem! We ALWAYS take out of town guests here. Its free, well maintained, and FULL of amazing things to see. My kids love going every time! It is just big enough to be worth it and take your time wandering around, but not so huge that kids will get bored. Strollers would be just fine for... 更多
Our Genealogy group recently took a tour of this museum, and we were so happy to be able to see the wonderful job they've done. The buildings were clean and well-cared for, parking was close by, and the artifacts are just awesome. So many uniforms, weapons, and a whole room full of toys-jeeps, atv's, and even a helicopter. More were... 更多
