My husband and I were visiting family in Summerville and decided to visit Magnolia Plantation and the Swamp Garden. The Swamp Garden was definitely worth checking out. It's a nice walk along boardwalks and paths. We saw lots of animals including birds, lizards and alligators.
This was pretty cool the alligators are able to come pretty close so keep your eyes open! There's no fence between u and the water so they have free range.. do not feed any alligator ever itsince not that long but it's shady and nice to see at least once. I recommend getting it with the gardens!
This 60 acre black water cypress swamp was originally used as a fresh water reservoir for the rice fields. It's at the entrance to the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens and is open 365 days a year. The plantations african-american cemetery is just inside the entrance to the swamp. It's a beautiful (if you love swamps) and peaceful walk through the... 更多
The swamp garden was my favorite part of my visit to Magnolia Plantations. Visitng early in the morning, there was hardly anyone else in the swamp garden and you really feel the swamp is alive with wildlife at this time of day. it is really good for bird watching, and of course you can see a lot of alligators! I... 更多
If you never have never walked thru a southern swamp before, this is a must! We saw so many different types of birds and beware of gators lounging in some areas! Absolutely a beautiful and cool experience!
We visited the swamp while we were on the grounds at the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. It was quite hot and sticky and we felt pretty "swampy" when we left the tour. However, it was soooooo worth it for the unique experiences that we had! The swamp tour is self guided and costs and extra $8 in addition to your... 更多
Something I have never seen, so for me it was pretty cool seeing the gators and nesting birds...and other related water life. Worth stopping by if you are doing the nearby Plantation tour
Wish we would have had more time here! We had some time after touring Magnolia Plantation. We decided to take the walk. We saw lots of gators, herons, turtles and egrets. We took the walk around 1:00 in the afternoon. It was hot and muggy, but well worth the walk. Seeing these birds and reptiles in their environment was breathtaking.... 更多
After visiting Magnolia, we purchased this ticket. Finding the entrance & parking was easy; gate to enter walking path worked fine*. DO TAKE BINOCULARS if you have them (the sign there reminds you, which was really nice.) So many birds to observe & alligators. We enjoyed this garden FAR more than Mag. *Exit from the walking tour is straight back... 更多
We were lucky enough to be there for the egret and heron rookery to in full swing. Fascinating to watch those huge birds swoop into their nests and watch the chicks feed. And the noise! We also saw dozens of alligators and turtles. Some of the walk was an elevated boardwalk, some was dirt paths. We actually had 3 three... 更多
