This was the Rhode Island stop of of New England trip. We stayed in Jamestown the night before and headed to Newport on the Ferry to Explore on the morning after. On the trip back to Jamestown, we had a good old chat with the Captain, who pretty much acted as a tour guide.
This ferry operates similar to the Newport Harbor Shuttle/Water Taxi, however, it also covers Rose Island and Jamestown. The round-trip ticket allows riders to use it is hop-on-hop-off, so it's a great way to enjoy the Narragansett Ave restaurant district of Jamestown while staying in Newport. The Jamestown shuttle also operates much later, ending between 10 and 11pm. There is... 更多
This was our second time taking the ferry. We parked in Jamestown where traffic is less congested and parking available to catch the ferry. Our main destination was Rose Island with our two young grandsons, so they could swim and explore the island. After spending several hours enjoying the island we hopped back on the ferry just to take a... 更多

Great way to get between Newport and Jamestown. Enjoy the waterfront, get off grab a bite to eat. Great if you want to drink and not drive.

Great for a trip to Rose Island or Newport (especially as an alternative to get to Fort Adams festivals to avoid Newport traffic and parking hassles). Informative and hospitable crew with convenient schedule during the summer. Check out Rose Island: historical lighthouse, sea glass/beachcombing, picnic for a great day trip,a few hours, or an overnight in the lighthouse by reservation.
After 4 PM, one can ride the ferry for $13 around the bay and see the sailing life of the mooring ships. We took the 6:45 ship last night and watched a wonderful sunset while sipping wine and beer from the comfy benches. It's a quick (and inexpensive) way to see some boating action from the water vs. shoreline. The... 更多
