Hand made items and small batch boutique items. They sold a woven cosmetic bag that I had bought at a boutique in Connecticut, but most items were by local artist. I bought some ceramics that were painted with a cheerful handful of wildflowers. Its immediacy was what struck me. It was my first time in Pittsburgh and was pleasantly surprised.
Great gallery and shop. Exhibition, Fiber Art International was on view while I was there--- Absolutely worth seeing!

This is a beautiful gallery. It's has a changing programme of exhibitions. The best show is the triennial Fiberarts International, which is also shown in the Pittsburgh Centre for the Arts simultaneously. The gallery is light and airy with a small shop that sells beautiful craft/artwork.
Right in the middle of all the food vendors, specialty shops, etc along Penn Avenue and Smallman Street, the SCC is a wonderful spot to view some amazing artistry from local artists. The shows change regularly so it is worth multiple trips.
Not a big place, as it is a working studio. About 1/2 is current large display, 1/8 is a small gift shop of hand crafted items, and the rest is work space. Worth the stop, as it is interesting to see what they've been creating. (30 minutes max.)
The Society For Contemporary Craft (SCC) is a small museum that provides perspective on innovative craft artists. It has a very nice gift shop and is well worth the time. Best of all it is free!
The SCC is always a fun place to visit. The exhibitions are always interesting and unusual, the store has a variety of items perfect for decorating your home, yourself and to give as gifts; all unique. Special workshops are offered. Always enjoy dropping in to see what's new.

Sometimes it's just a wide collection of artistic wares by local painters and sculptors, other times it's... 更多
