This is the house of a former executive who had 250 identical shirts he wore when he was still working! This tells a lot about this guy's tastes and imagination. The house itself is grand and well kept. he had a penchant of collecting, especially musical instruments. The house has a few secrets, the presentation is fun. It is an... 更多
I can't say enough about this hidden gem of Pittsburgh. First, it's only $10, and it's the tour is over 2 and a half hours! It's a lot better than going to a movie for that price. It's really a three-in-one experience. You learn about a very interesting eccentric millionaire through some entertaining stories. These stories help you to understand... 更多
Bayernhof Museum is a large collection of mechanical music devices that date back to the late 1880s. The "museum" is unconventional in that everything is housed in a very large home - everything is displayed in situ such that you can walk up to every piece and inspect it as you wish. You must have an appointment to tour the... 更多
Our family of six (4 boys 19,18,17,12) all LOVED our private tour with Jim. What a great docent! He has stories about Charles Brown that will keep you asking for more! The musical instrumental inventions were what attracted us to this museum originally, but the tour was so much more! LOTS of history, stories, surprises...around every turn. My boys loved... 更多
We were fortunate enough to take a last minute tour of Bayernhof Museum recently. It is hard to put into words how eclectic this museum is. James was a great tour guide and was able to 'transport' us back to when Charles Brown was alive and well. So many surprises and so much to see that I can't wait to... 更多
This is rare find, not only do you get to visit a unique property, you discover a neat music museum and stories and personal history. Reservations are necessary, just visit their web site for info. Groups are from a max or 12 to 2 only. Wow, this is a winner, unique and special. The Curator James is a great host.... 更多
This 2hr 30 min guided tour is by appointment only, and limited to 12 people. The impressive collection of music boxes may be the stated content of the museum, but the stories of the man and the house tour are just as entertaining. Do not plan on finishing quickly. Plan on savoring the entire two and a half hour glimpse... 更多
This place is hidden in a affluent neighborhood north of Pittsburgh. The history and musical antiques are amazing and each room of this mansion is unique. Our tour guide was very informative and entertaining.
For something you would truly not see anywhere else, I recommend this just for the novelty of it. Most Pittsburghers don't even know it is there. Secret doors and all!!
If you like eccentric people who build eccentric things (Willy Wonka comes to mind), you will love the Bayernhof Museum. It must be seen to be believed - this house will surprise you, disorient you, and entertain you. Our guide, Jim, was extremely knowledgable and playful - he sang along (and encouraged us to sing along if we wanted) to... 更多
