A small group of senior hikers climbed the mountain staring from the park office area to Flat Rock on a beautiful day in February 2017. This was an intensely uphill hike to the 'wagon wheel' area, then another difficult uphill hike to the Flat Rock overlook. What a fantastic view from the overlook across the Cumberland Valley. There was a... 更多
Camping, hiking, a small lake, and educational programs. Well-managed campground with host, typical amenities, education building, amphitheater, and creek running through. Nice spot and campers are friendly with a sense of community, plus a small lake for swimming and "beach" atmosphere. There are also walk-in campsites where you can park your car and walk up a short distance to pitch... 更多
Nothing there anymore. When I was growing up it was always packed with campers, picnickers, swimmers and more . You would always have a problem finding a place to have your picnic. Would be nice if it had a pool like Little Buffalo.
This is the best kept secret in central PA. Beside the beauty lake with a huge beach there are lots of hiking trails for everyone. From easy to rugged. There is also fishing, a nice playground and camping with activities provided by the PA DNCR. Always a great place to camp. And now is an absolutely beautiful place with the... 更多
We really enjoyed Colonel Dennings. We never camped there. Because we live 2 miles away. But it seems very nice. They are having a water problem right now. They keep losing water. Don't know when it will be fixed. But take the time go enjoy it.
Whether you enjoy just sitting by your campfire or hiking this is a great quiet Pa State Park, with tenting, Rving, hiking, walking trails or cooling off at the beach.
Yes there is a "beach" but no lifeguards on duty. Its a swim at your own risk. I would not recommend this place for people with families.
my second son goes at least three times a week to mountain bike even in the winter - if there is no snow, he will ride in the summer you will see wild life all around you
Not much to do there,if your a hiker or like to camp and sit around its ok. Nothing close by to see.
This is a nice park. Gorgeous setting. We decided to hike the Flat Rock Trail. The trail was wonderfully clean (no trash) and well maintained. It was a strenuous hike but the view at the top was well worth the effort.
