Super surreal landscape from the top! The fact that it used to be a ski hill is even cooler being in Australia. All the giant rocks and the leaveless trees. Beautiful. Definitely worth the drive, bring your hiking shoes, snacks and drinks though! Admission to park is pretty steep too. So bring your wallet!
A walk to the top of Australia should be on everyone's to do list. The walk from the top of the Thredbo chairlift is fairly easy (unless you're facing a 60kmh head wind like the day I was there) and you don't need any special gear to make it. The national park has a number of hiking tracks offering easy, moderate and more challenging hikes. Although the daily park use fees seem to be much higher than for parks in other places (outside NSW), a lot of the money seems to be put into very good quality infrastructure, so we were happy to pay them.

Just don't make the mistake of buying an Alpine pass if you're not going to use the bobsled, pool etc. The Kosciusko... 更多
We took the chair lift from Thredbo to the Summit, which in itself was a great experience. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the top. The first day we attempted to do this the chair lift was not operating due to the extreme winds so it is advisable before you make the trek to Thredbo (if not staying... 更多
I did this walk a few years ago and the kids did not make it to the top. This year we all made it up and the weather was perfect. Where else in the world can an overweight unfit nearly 50 year old climb (walk) to the highest peak on a continent in shorts and a t-shirt. Straya-mate, that's where....... 更多
