Extremely well organised and friendly place to visit. As well as the normal steam train trips, we have done a 'dining experience' which was superb and is highly recommended.
Took our daughter and grandchildren here for a lovely day out and, although aimed at kids, I thoroughly enjoyed it. This year was Peppa & George Pig themed and had Grandpa Pig's train you could ride on. Magic shows, circus training shows, face painting, small animals area plus a "meet Peppa & George area" for lots of happy photo shots!
The East Lancs Railway is marvellous. It brings pleasure to so many, young & old. I particularly like Ramsbottom Station as there is always something going on, even on "quiet" days. Special days such as war weekend or Thomas are really that, special. Ramsbottom (Rammy or tupsarse) has grown because of the railway. From here you can go north to... 更多
Lovely scenic railway, one of the largest collections of preserved diesel locos in the UK and a good selection of steam. Highly recommended
Had the privilege of being on the train for lunch on Sunday 14th June 2015, to celebrate our Uncles 80th birthday. Never having been here before didn't know what to expect. When we arrived there was no problem parking the car as there is adequate parking right next to the railway. We met in the 'buffet bar' first for a... 更多

This railway is staffed by volunteers, and runs diesel and steam trains from Bury to Rawtenstall via Ramsbottom. The staff on the stations and the trains are great, and have heaps of information on the railway and the two towns to visit. It is a lovely ride through the district to these towns. Both towns have plenty to offer with... 更多
Having booked back in March we were both looking forward to this evening event. We were not disappointed. On arrival @6:45 parking was easy in the adjacent car park, the bar was buzzing, drinks were purchased and we joined the locals and passengers on the platform and up to boarding the atmosphere built-up. On boarding into the first class carriage,... 更多

Another great night on the steam train. We've been going on the Christmas train for a number of years now, highly recommended for anyone that's been considering it, the food is excellent, I'm always surprised at just how faultless it is considering we're on a train, you sort of expect plastic food like on Virgin or other train lines but... 更多

We had our cream tea experience on the railway bought as birthday presents. On arrival we were shown to our table which was set up with lovely white linen tablecloths and serviettes, a stand of cakes and scones and a pot of tea. The cakes were gorgeous and the friendly staff served endless tea and coffee throughout the journey. There... 更多

I had hoped to have a trip on the railway before the match at Bury that afternoon, but timings and meeting friends made this impossible so I spent some time on the station watching a Class 50, 37 and a WD 0-6-0 Saddle tank in the rain. Once my friends arrived we retired to the bar for a few pints.... 更多
Easy to find from the Metrolink terminus. No info as to which ELR platform to go to, and we headed past a sign worded "Plat 3 & 4 All trains" to find its footbridge steps shuttered and closed at the bottom. So we headed for the only other option of plat 2 which turned out to be correct. Sad saga... 更多

great fun day out for all the family a bit expensive for a family but my grandson loves trains and to see them for real rather than on tv was a plus for him there's a buffet on the train reasonably priced. and you can get on and off the train all day long.will do again soon
The ELR from Bury takes you into open countryside very quickly. The end of the line is Rawtenstall but we opted to break the journey at Ramsbottom for lunch and to enjoy a walk along the Rammy Mile.
For me this was truly a great day out. I was brought up during the era of steam and remember well the days of Dr Richard Beeching. The ELR (as I prefer to call it) is a preservation worth visiting as it matches perfectly all those reminders of long forgotten days. I bought an all day rover ticket from Rawtenstall... 更多
