We opted for the "Fireman’s Picnic" excursion to and from Lackawaxen with a 1.5 hour layover in Lackawaxen for a “picnic”. The layover featured food & drink items available for purchase (and benefiting) the local fire company which is NOT included in the price of the train ticket.

A relaxing ride on a beautiful summer day on a fully restored passenger train along the Lackawaxen River. The staff and volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the train service. Highly recommend for all ages.
The passenger coaches have been lovingly restored. New paint. Very clean. Friendly knowledgable conductor and volunteers. We went to Lackawaxen. Beautiful scenery. A relaxing way to spend a morning. Not sure it's good for small children. They might find it boring.
Today we rode the Stourbridge Rail Excursion. It was a lovely ride on a great old coach car. I must say that it was the CLEANEST and best restored 1920 Pennsylvania RR coach car. The staff was very nice and pleasant. Although it was extremely hot outside, with the window open and "natural air conditioning" the inside temperature was okay....
