Came here with boyfriend while visiting for Hershey Park. I would recommend Mcgrath's pub if you are looking for a nice spot to stop and get some drinks or food. We also really enjoyed going towards city island and looking out over the water. We also visited the capital building which was beautiful. For dinner we went to Appalachian brewing... 更多
There is plenty to do in downtown Harrisburg. Of course there's the gorgeous state Capitol building, the Capitol complex with the fountain and parks, shopping, lovely old churches, and the dinosaur art! We enjoyed taking photos of the various dinosaurs that are scattered around town, all painted uniquely, and the many churches too. Parking is expensive, but because of this,... 更多
Free street parking on Sunday was a bonus. It was nice to walk around to see the dinosaur art. Walked across the bridge. Nice views. Restaurants looked nice.
There are some museums if you have the time, and the thoroughly worthwhile National Civil War Museum is not far away. But unless you are "civil-minded" or a Pennsylvania kid on a school trip, I am not aware of anything that you really would miss just by seeing the state capitol from the outside and driving across the vast river.... 更多
We went to the National Civil War Museum the part of town it was in didn't seem that nice that's just my personal opinion. The downtown area was nice but it was Sunday and not that many people around. We stayed North of town and the area was very nice took a walk in the neighborhood just off N Front... 更多
While the people are generally friendly there are way too many homeless people panhandling. Also there are only certain blocks downtown you can walk safely at night.
I only go downtown to do a little bit of business then get out of town. There are some good restaurants but nothing that entices me to drive there just to eat or drink. It isn't safe to go down there at night if you aren't with a group of people.
Winos, drunks, addicts, homeless and lots of scary people. Even in front of first rate hotels, they constantly panhandle. Not a good impression for visitors and guests.
Attractions nearby brought us here and it was ok to drive through, but not much downtown would be appealing to many looking for historic buildings or a nice waterfront park. Too many other places to go if you´re looking for that.
