My favorite cemetery in the area...finally found my families plot..thank you to the staff...beautiful trees and flowers...so much history...I love going here many times a year and strolling the grounds.
My wife and I went to the cemetery to find the location where Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. After finding location we noticed that there were pennies on the graves of the soldiers who had fallen. We looked it up and found that it's to show family members that someone had visited the grave that the money collected goes... 更多
This overlooked cemetery is worth a peek if you are nearby (perhaps to visit the National Civil War Museum). It is a classic Victorian-era burial ground which when constructed was in the country. There was too much to see in one visit so we plan on coming back soon. It's very peaceful. Some of the stones are broken, have fallen over, or are just plain missing. But that adds to the charm.
