While it's not a destination activity in itself, the Mercer Museum is certainly worth a stop if you're in the region. There are several floors jam packed with artifacts from the pre-industrial era in the United States, presented in an organized, thoughtful manner. Handicapped access is available to each level via a (small) elevator. Throughout the building, there is a... 更多
Most people might not be familiar with the Mercer Museum. This museum was just made a Smithsonian Affiliate an incredible accomplishment! Originally designed and created by Henry Chapman Mercer in the late 19th century. Mercer was a visionary and an exceptional artist and craftsman. "Mercer believed that American society was being destroyed by industrialism, which inspired his search for American... 更多
It's a nice little place. Doylestown is a small town but with a fun history dating back to the colonial days, and this museum is a staple of the area. The museum doesn't take long to get through and it's a nice thing to do even on a rainy day, especially if you have a guest and it's their first... 更多
Don't know what the big hub bub is about, this museum is a dark and gloomy place, too many things that are a jumbled together and no real theme or interesting exhibits. Some individual items are different, like the whale boat but all in all you would do better at a good antiques store. "The Emperor Has No Clothes, if... 更多
I live nearby, so I gathered up a few friends for a field trip. We went to Fonthill Castle first, then drove over to this museum. It was January, so we had coats on. Good thing, too, because it is freezing inside (no heat). The tours are self-guided. The collections are of equipment and tools that were used before the... 更多
I took my son and his (both 15) friend to view the museum. At first, they were impressed by what they saw and who wouldn't be. The 5+floors share an open air style architecture and things hang from every level, creating a sight for the eyes. As you explore, you are taken to little rooms that highlight some aspect of... 更多
Best collection in a small building, well organized and COLD. The weather outside was 25 degrees and there is no insulation. Allow about 2 hours to see, most of it. Although there is some wheel chair access. many walkways are narrow, and there are loads of interesting displays branching of staircases that wheelchairs will miss. Loved the 7th floor with... 更多
This is a wonderful museum that brings you back in time. Henry Mercer had fantastic forethought to put together a museum that chronicles a way of life that was slowly disappearing. Be sure to look in every corner, you never know what you will find...or whose footprints.
Was very interesting had many, many objects to view. We visited December 26th, 2016 (dress warmly) can be very cold inside. Ps: if u plan a visit don't miss Fonthill Castle Guided tour reservation required.
