Whenever I and my family come to the US we travel to our goal Tillamook from Astoria following the beautiful highway 101, stopping at places like Cannon Beach. In Tillamook, the beautiful beach at Cape Meares is a favorite, but also the scenery of the Coastal Range is appreciated.
Headed to Cape Meares from the Portland/Vancouver area. The road leading to the lighthouse is a bit rough, to be expected. Make sure you check open hours for the lighthouse as they are not open daily. The parking lot and the path to the lighthouse are easy to navigate and have opportunities for visitors to look out at the ocean... 更多
Beautiful views and very nice hiking trails. One of the days we were there the lighthouse was open for tours. Lots of interesting history with the lighthouse. We went upstairs to the top of the lighthouse and enjoyed the talk given by one of the docents. Very informative. Definitely recommend stopping here. Have been here many times and it never gets old. Plenty of parking, very well maintained and some of the best views on the whole Oregon Coast. It is far off the beaten path, but very much worth it. This lighthouse is tiny compared to others but well worth the visit. The entire area is well maintained as picnic tables are available.
