Drive to the north end of Sauvie Island and you can walk on the beach to the lighthouse. It's called Warrior Rock Lighthouse, 6 miles out and back. Great for running and or with kids, no elevation.
As an Oregonian, I have been out there many times over the years, to pick cucumbers for pickling; and ALL kinds of berries; cherries; seeds; honey; etc... Visit the popular Pumpkin Patch and BUY their wonderful, natural stuff!!! Or, you can even drive out to the nudie beach, and STRIP down to you birthday suit, and swim in the Willamette!!!... 更多
We visited Sauvie Island Wildlife Area to visit a few homes we wanted to view for our upcoming retirement. Drove around the island a bit and saw many local farms with fresh produce, including fruits such as blueberries, marionberries, strawberries and blackberries, with much more available! Some of the farms offer all-organic! Pick your own produce! The island is the... 更多
You might want to wear your ear plugs if you're heading this way during the migration season. There are so many birds taking off, landing and just hanging out and feeding. The cacophony they produce is astounding. You will love it.

On a Sunday the place seemed vacated and information available was minimal and confusing. We drove around for several miles, but could not find what we hoped for and expected.
Blue Herons, swallows, beaches, farms...what's not to love about this place? Hard to believe it is so close to the city and offers such a rural experience. The river is awesome!
It's early May, a beautiful day, and, specifically wanting to see wildlife and birds, decided to visit Sauvie Island, having read all the great reviews. Sunscreen, water, binoculars--check. We stopped at the "general store," bought a worthless map for a quarter, and tried to find our way around. (Very poor signage.) We did manage to find the wildlife area and... 更多
Beautiful island that feels miles away from the city, but is so close! Lots of waterfowl, beaches, farms and country stores. Avoid the crowds by getting there early in the day. $10 day parking pass can be purchased at Cracker Barrel country store right as you enter the island
Best place to go pick your own fruits and vegetables when they are in season. Also a great place to put the top down and enjoy nice weather on a warm day. In the fall you can pick your own pumpkins and get fresh pressed cider.
