I think this museum is very well done. I only did the 3rd floor focusing on the history of Oregon. Interesting exhibits. I only had an hour and probably could have spent more time there.
Definitely a staple for residents and visitors wanting to get a better understaning of Oregon but most importantly for me, amazing temporary exhibits. The one about the history of the Chinese community in Portland was increadibly interesting and a great learning experience. And it's free to Multnomah County residents
Good exhibits, good introduction to the history of Oregon in addition to special exhibits. Comic books were there when I visited. Also there was a truncated baseball exhibit and they were creating what looked to be a tribute to policemen. If you're interested in Oregon's history, the third floor is definitely worth a visit.
You will enjoy your visit to Oregon Historical Society Museum!!! I was just there this weekend with my children. It's located in the heart of downtown Portland, near Portland State University area. The Fact about Oregon history will blow you away! Well worth the trip and your time!
If you have never been to the state of Oregon, definitely go !!!!! Whatever you think or Oregon, once you go to this museum, your life will completely change. It is an area of usual and unusual artifacts and cultural history of the growth of Oregon from the Oregon Trail back in the 1800*s to present day 2016.
For seniors like me it costs $9 to get in but the exhibits are really interesting, especially the original penny which was tossed to decide the name of the city, and the wagon train mock up which brought to life just how much hardship the early settlers endured. You won't be disappointed. The staff were particularly helpful.
