As many say, the main street feels tourist trappy, and it is, you can see some people crab-fishing off the docks and visit many shops. Go off the main street and drive down the docks, buy a fish off one of the boats there and prepare it on your grill. Fresh off the boat and tasty as ever!
Commercial fish processors across from fresh fish restaurants; what a combination! Tourist shops, candy shops, an Aquarium, and Wax Museum can all be found on the Bayfront.
Fun place to visit while in Newport. You can get up front and personal on the docks viewing the fishing fleets, seeing a multitude of sea lions, unique shops, good food, very friendly people. Just a fun place to visit - reminds one of a old fishing community - even "smells" like fish!!! I would give this a 5 star... 更多
Not quite as vastly impressive as the Oregon Coast, but still waterfront and nautical with many attractions such as aquarium, several seafood restaurants (Mo's! Local Ocean!) and gift shops. Easy to stroll through and get a sense of a Pacific Coast working fishing district.
I not only get to visit here every year I get to live here every summer. Newport is a very special place with a huge commerical fishing fleet plus lots of recreational boats and large NOAA and OSU ships in the bay. When you come to visit you won't want to leave.
Grand fresh-fish restaurants line the sea side, and lots of craft and shops line the other side. We enjoyed eating fresh-fresh shrimp! We could not see the sea, however, except through slots between buildings.
I love going down to the bayfront in Newport. There are many things to see and do, and it's nice to just be able to sit and watch people as well. Don't miss the Seal Lion Docks!
