We visited for the first time yesterday. It was an ambient drive down a winding suburban country road around hillsides and by golden fields recently mowed for hay and other crops. When we reached the two story farmhouse, we were immediately met and welcomed by staff and dogs. We were given a glass of Chardonnay to sip while we waited... 更多
Initially, I was turned on to this place due to a living social deal. The deal and some of the pictures that I had seen made this place seem quite large and somewhat upscale. Upon my arrival, I was relieved and somewhat saddened that it wasn't as upscale or as large as I initially anticipated. Nevertheless, the time I was... 更多
We were doing a tour of local wineries as part of a fund raiser for the Humane Society and this was our first stop. It was a special day where you could bring your dog and they had activities for them too. It was so peaceful and they had a lovely porch and amazing Pinot Noir.
We happened upon this place while driving through the area (you must go to the peach farm in the area also). The people who run the place are down to earth (which helps when growing grapes;) They know their wines - the best thing was that it was such a small place- we felt that we were driving up to... 更多
The folks working at this Vineyard are super friendly and knowledgeable. The owner is extremely friendly and takes pride in his property. We brought family here from out of town and they were impressed with the wine, the smoke Salmon and hospitality. Definitely check this place out!
Helvetia Winery is only 15 minutes from my home in Portland, but it seems like a world away. I love driving up back woods roads, past red barns and alpaca farms and finally landing at John Platt's Helvetia Winery. I've started making it a monthly visit, and I love that I can fill up my bouteilles (think growler, only a... 更多
Our first visit to the Helvetia Wine tasting was a groupon experience. John, the owner does a wonderful presentation for the understanding of wine, how the Columbia gorge was developed, even went for a ride to the vines down the road to see where they grow. Wednesday nites from May to September there is usually music after 5:00 pm. and... 更多
We stumbled upon this vineyard while searching on Google a new place to wine taste. They pair their wines with delicious canned smoked salmon, which in and of itself is worth the trip. The wines are pretty good, and I like the stories behind how it was started. Definitely worth a trip.
