The highlight of this museum is the exhibit on the Trail of Tears. The descriptions of the experiences was realistic and moving. Anyone who has an interest in the history of Native Americans should visit this center. Andrew Jackson was an important figure in the removal of the Indians from their homes and the forced movement to other places. Part... 更多

We had a wonderful visit to the heritage center. We had a guided tour with Tim who did an exceptional job. Tim was knowledgeable about Cherokee life in the early 1700's and skillful about demonstrating many of their daily tasks! The pottery by Anna Mitchell was beautiful. The film was excellent. Guided tour of the 1710 Cherokee village was the highlight of our visit. Our guide shared personal experiences that made the culture come alive. We enjoyed spending time with him. Museum includes information and artifacts about the Trail of Tears and other aspects of Cherokee life. Would have been 5 stars except there's no cafe, only a vending machine with... 更多

Our family of 3 visited the Cherokee Heritage Center in November, 2016. We took the guided tour (no extra charge), and it was fantastic. Live demonstrations of stick ball and bow hunting. Our guide (I think her name was Laura), and her husband both work at the Center. She was very knowledgeable about tribal life. After our guided tour, we... 更多

The heritage center is a great place to learn about and experience Cherokee Culture. The replica village, museum and gift shop give the gift of experiencing Cherokee culture first hand. The staff was gracious, polite and very informative throughout the complex. Anyone traveling the "Trail of Tears" , it's a must stop!

We visited off season, mid fall, on a weekend. The indoor museum was small but beautifully appointed and excellent use of space, ranging from historical to present-day pride. The outdoor living museum was well-guided by a cheerful and friendly guide who explained several aspects of culture and heritage, both historical and present day. Highly recommended.

US History is my passion, and witnessing the Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah, Oklahoma was both educational...and inspirational...as well as disturbing and thought provoking. The Heritage Center is located in a beautiful wooded area on the Southeastern corner of Tahlequah. It is broken up into three seperate areas that clearly define the Cherokee heritage and history. The "Village" is exceptional.... 更多

Thus was a marvelous place to visit. You get the inside part with the Trail of Tears and other interesting things and outside is a guided tour of an old village. So much to learn about. There is also another village on the grounds with cabins and that way of life after the loss of their old ways.

An excellent, albeit small display of information about the trail of tears and what actually happened + artefacts from the 19th century. The mock-up village and guided tour was good and am sure would be excellent for kids who might not want to read the information boards in the museum.

My husband and I stopped here on our way home from a trip across country. We found the people very friendly and informative. We have been to a few places that taught about the Native American people but this was by far the best. I would recommend it for anyone adults and children alike.
