I've gone to Oak Openings my whole life. It's one of the most peaceful places I know. The areas vary so much. Good well marked hiking trails of varied lengths. Now my Grandsons are going.
This is one of the nicest parks in the area, especially for cyclist. Lots of miles of trail, with beautiful scenery and water. Its a drive for us, but well worth it.
This truly is a great park. Many trails and beautiful scenery. I especially loved the sand dunes. While the bathrooms weren't particularly clean, everything else was awesome. I'd recommend spending a day or two here.
Oak Openings is the largest Toledo metro park and offers something for everyone, even sand dunes. My only complaint is that there are very few directional signs to get to the park, and some of the trails are not very well marked. We start with breakfast and stay through lunch and into the afternoon. We typically have some people fishing, while others are biking, walking, birding or just playing. Born and raised in Toledo I have been living in Colorado for over 40 yrs and I can say I still marvel at the beauty of a hard wood forest in the fall. Haven't been to oak openings for many years and man was it a special day. November 1st around 80 degrees just incredible scenery and it doesn't get... 更多
I walk here quite often and believe it is one of the nicest in Ohio. Very diverse with sand dunes, wetlands, an oak savanah (one of only 14 in the world) pararies and more
My most vivid experience was several years ago when I took a group of Boy Scouts on an18 mile fall overnight hike in Oak Openings Preserve. It is a beautiful park with a wide variety of plant life. The scouts were able to identify many plants native to the area. They and I were surprised to come across cactus in... 更多
I backcountry hike the mountains often but live in the flatlands of NW Ohio. In between my travels I frequent Oak Openings on the regular and have hiked every trail there multiple times. I never get bored with it.
