This house is well maintained and a short walk from the Sandusky Library. Docents were very knowledgable. Don't miss the upstairs with special exhibits.
We stopped in on a rainy day that happened to be International Museum Day. However, any day is free admission to the house. They had a craft area where our granddaughter made a carnation, a plane and had her picture taken in an old time outfit and the picture was in sepia!!! Came here for International Museum Day. Staff is very friendly, and the museum is very clean. Very beautiful statues and women's attire. It was an interesting tour. There are only stairs to get between floors so it's probably not best for those in wheelchairs or don't climb stairs too easily. Bring your camera. They had crafts which made it fun... 更多
The house itself was very cool to see. There were several rooms set up from the time period, and those were neat to see. That's what I was expecting from the whole house, but it was only a couple rooms. Otherwise, most rooms felt like walking through an antique shop, with a hodgepodge of stuff from different eras. This museum seemed to be just rooms filled with various antiques from many different eras rather than displaying the house as it had been in the time period that it was built and lived in. It was still interesting as we love history, but I am glad admission was free. It would have been disappointing otherwise.
we enjoyed the walk around and enjoyed the guide who talked us through the who house it was so educational to learn about a place that was the home of the publsiher of the lincoln-douglas debates and to learn the history of sandusky ohio in there time,if your a big history buff i recommend it
