We are so fortunate to have the Kokosing Gap Trail literally in our backyard. It is a wonderful place, to walk, run, ride your bike or trike and enjoy the beautiful woods and Kokosing river.
This trail runs for miles! Walk it, run it, or bike it! Start at Ariel Foundation Park and go all the way to the Bridge of Dreams. There are so many places to stop along the way for drinks, food, and sweet treats!
Over the years, I have done every leg of the trail; each holding its own mystique. Whether biking or walking, you WILL get your nature on. Howard, Gambier or Brinkhaven make for the best starting routes. Old, concrete RR mileage markers help you to keep track of distance covered. Beware, you may have to yield to an Amish buggy or... 更多
This is a good place for long walks or bike rides. The path is a paved over railroad. They have park benches and a few port-a-potties scattered along the trail. You can travel from Centerburg to Jelloway Ohio, with multiple entry points with parking. Checkout Gambier's Steam locomotive next to the trail.
What a fantastic rail to trail project in central Ohio. Well maintained park with historical markers along the way, mileage markers made like old railroad markers, a steam locomotive and C&O caboose in Gambier (along with restrooms, water fountain and picnic tables). I understand this park is maintained by volunteers--impressive considering its size. You'll love this amazing park.
This is a lovely trail connected to other portions of the Rails to Trails network. My favorite portion is the section that runs between Kenyon College and Mount Vernon. This particular sections contains several historical railroad bridges on a delightful ride through the forest. If you are riding the part near Mount Vernon, don't forget to check out Foundation Park,... 更多
We rode the trail from Mt. Vernon to Kenyon College and beyond. It is all asphalt with no hills passing through forests alongside a river. It was lovely in the fall and we could have gone further but turned around because it was quite windy the day of our ride. We would love to return and put on more miles... 更多
We rode this trail for the first time during a parents' weekend visit to Kenyon. We rode only the segment between Mt. Vernon and Gambier. The trail is beautiful and the surface is very well-maintained. I like the RR bridges especially. I look forward to returning and biking more of the trail.
