My husband and I visited the Ohio River Museum after visiting the Campus Martius Museum. It is conveniently located just a block from the Campus Martius Museum, so you can park there and walk to the Ohio River Museum. We picked the most perfect autumn day for this, as the neighborhood both museums are located in contain historical homes with... 更多
This must be a stop if you're in town. Great history and items from the past. Neat to see the old stern wheeler and an excellent guided tour. Ticket price is very reasonable. Just amazing to see the boating history of the Ohio valley.
The Ohio River Museum was very historical and taught me much about Marietta and the river. A lot of it were things my peers learned when they attended school as children in Marietta but since I did not attend elementary school in this city I did not learn these things. It is always a good experience to go and very... 更多
The museum is small and has some odor. It probably saw better days. It is interesting. But what made me select 4 out of 5 was the tour of the steam boat, which was well-guided. Both the mechanics of the ship and the life on the boat were told. The guide tailored the tour to the audience. It was very... 更多
A wonderful surprise and well worth seeing. If touring the nearby Campus Martius museum do this first, as it'll give you a chance to see the W.P. Snyder and grounds exhibits while the sun is hitting their 'good side' for photography purposes, beat the crowds, and while the morning is still cool and comfortable. Lots of great steamboat and paddleboat... 更多
My brothres and I, all seniors, went to see it and were delighted. It was filled with things we wanted to see and so many models and photos of the river steamboats and stuff. We thought we'd spend 30 minutes and ended there for over 2 hours. The tour of the WW Snyder is awesome and so informative. You get... 更多
We were there as President and Mrs. Lincon and welcomed many guests going through the museum. They were able to learn about the flatboat Mr. Lincoln worked on as well as the boat lifter he invented - the only president to hold a patton! There was an amazing interpreter named Susan who taught about how the Ohio river was formed... 更多
Barbara B: It sounds like you had a great time and enjoyed the museum but you gave a rating of... 更多
Only open from April-October the museum offers a wide array of items from various steamboats throughout history and some interesting information on the means of shipping the highlight is the WP Synder moored alongside the museum. Docent led tours are informative and insteresting. The museum has 3 galleries stuffed with steamboat models, pictures and random parts of now defunct steamboats.... 更多
This is quite the place. Touring the old sternwheeler the W.P. Snyder was so interesting. Some awesome details on this old boat.Take the time to really explore this exhibit. Tours are given but are scheduled, we just happened to make the first one of the morning. Would recommend to young and old alike, family and singles. A definite don't miss... 更多
The best museum and staff for river boat history. We learned so much and the boat itself is filled with history and state of the art equipment for the late 1800's.
