Visited again (last visit 15yrs ago) really fascinating little museum. Sadly the earphones still not working which means much of the enjoyment was lost- a real shame. It was still great in a nice little town- and is free to visit.
This interesting museum is just one of a number of activities in the lovely and historical building. Well worth a visit if you are at all interested in the Northumbrian Smallpipes or bagpipes generally. The score is perhaps a bit harsh but I think more could have been made of it. The headphone system was not working but we were told that it only played the music we could hear playing downstairs anyway. This is a pity... 更多
Good range of different bagpipe e.g Northumbrian, Scottish, Irish, French, border pipes. However the headphone system was not working when I visited, so there was not the opportunity to hear examples of the sound of the different instruments.
In comparison to most museums, this is one star, but it is a specialist museum, the collection donated by a local guy. So do not go with high expectations.
