walked around the full walls and down on to the pier on Saturday morning, peaceful and lovely walk. wonderful views and things to look at all the way along - would recommend
Decided to walk the walls on our last morning in Berwick upon Tweed. Great little walk lots of boards informing you of the history of the walls. The old guardhouse was very interesting.
Berwick is a Georgian town, but a walk around the city walls enables you to visualise more of its history. Some of the houses which are situated close to the walls are magnificent and in a truly unique position. There are many information birds on the elk which explain their history.
Definitely worth going to for anyone visiting Berwick-Upon-Tweed. The walls have some well detailed information points around the very nicely kept trail. The view out towards Tweedmouth, Berwick, the river, the North Sea and as far down the coast as Lindisfarne are outstanding. We only went to do some pre Christmas shopping at Morrisons but having done that we spent the best part of three hours walking the old town walls. This is well worth doing - even in part - as it tells you a lot about the history of the town and is very picturesque and interesting.
