fascinating collection of domestic artefacts with some of the rooms as they would have been in the 1920's and one of those rattling lifts in a wire cage that you usually only see in black and white movies. When you finish your tour you can enjoy a cream tea on the terrace amongst the aspidistras and potted palms- very atmospheric
We popped in for a quick cuppa and couldn't resist the cream tea. It was just the best cream tea EVERRR! Homemade jam, fluffy warm scones, bottomless pot of tea. All served by waitresses in traditional clothes, on bone china with fabulous views from the sun terrace. It was simply 10 out 10. I nearly had to rugby tackle my... 更多
This is not a treat more of an experience. If you do not mind school dinners with a twist, this is an option not to be missed. Fine dining and service as it used to be in Grandma's days without the haute cuisine. Try it before it disappears.
Yes I know it's quirky and I am sure overseas visitors love it for being very English but some of the items are just ridiculous and is obviously some ones eccentric collection of memorabilia (????) and could really do with a sort out.
We stayed for one night, unfortunately. I would like to have stayed longer. The rooms are very comfortable and we had a balcony. Very nice buffet breakfast. The service was great, even though they were very busy. There are some great museum pieces. The lift was fabulous, I would definitely return.
This hotel is a gem. It is like staying in a museum but with luxury. Artefacts from the past adorn the corridors and even the lift is a 1920s one you may see in the old movies. The owner is a brilliant lady and she shared her story with us personally as we sat on the veranda. I love this... 更多
A visit to this Museum is a must. To walk round the dining room and see the napery on the walls. Round the corridors to see the memorabilia from bygone times. The reception area has lovely antiques. The bar has lovely and comfy chesterfields
What a surprise. The museum is a bit muddled but contains items which are integral to the feel of the place. Harks back to a bygone age but retains its identity as a functioning hotel. A ride in the antique Otis lift is a 'must'. The Napery display is wonderful, amusing and creative. The Emin connection is obvious throughout the... 更多
