Nice statue of a great man who possibly changed the course of the war but certainely saved many many lives and we should all be eternally grateful for his commitment to find a solution
Easy to find when in Herne Bay and you walk along the seafront. Heading towards Kings Hall this statue sits back towards houses in a higher setting and here you will find Barnes Wallis looking out over the sea from where they did the trial runs. Don't forget that his invention of a bouncing bomb was significant in making the... 更多
A very fitting monument to a brilliant man, well worth seeing. This man invented the bouncing bomb, ever seen the film the Dam Busters, this was the man who invented it
standing on the hills so all can see the great man it doesn't affect anyone and i have lots at photos of my love ones smiling and posing near the lovely statue and it just lush' to look at! and looks nice on the green hill showing history to the bay

This lovely statue is of Barnes Wallis who was the originator of the bouncing bomb of the Dambusters fame... his contribution to the war was significant. Being here, looking out over the water, close to Reculver where the practice runs and experiments took place. A great man and worth a look.
This rather modest statue, apprently commensurate with the nature of the man... I have driven past it for years without realising it's significance. See the statue, check out the man if you have not heard of him ,A true British genius ,and not just for the bouncing bomb but many other things .others could only wish to be this brilliant,,then it's off to Reculver where they tested the bouncing bomb .amazing History
It's a good quality statue, but if you want to learn more, Herne bay museum and reculver centre are both always closed. Maybe the location for the statue would have been better closer to the centre for more to enjoy? Plus the statue looks a little like Harold from neighbours.
