Of all the caverns in the Peak District, this one is the least spectacular, no stalagmites or stalactites to wonder over but the history of the men and children who dug out the tunnels and the clanking of the boat along the sides as you travel along them gives an atmospheric eeriness - along with the guides attempts at humorous... 更多
This costs around £10 and takes about an hour. Most of the time you are just sat in a boat going along a narrow dark damp tunnel until you reach the cavern. The Cavern itself is actually quite small although obviously deep and you only spend less than 5 minutes in the cavern itself. The guide does tell about the... 更多
The boat trip along the mine was intriguing if not a little claustrophobic! The guide appeared to be about 14 but was well informed and had a good patter. Arrived at the cave after the boat ride but not a lot to see. Really just paying for a boat ride along a narrow passage underground. If you want impressive caverns... 更多
We visited Speedwell with our 5 year old granddaughter. We paid for this and Peak Cavern together, getting a small discount. If you know ahead that you are going to be in the area, there is a 20% discount. Once down the steps (no problems for a 5 year old or her grandma who had a hip replacement last year)... 更多
Took my 6 year old for a day out. Had a great time. Didn't need to queue as it was very quiet. The guide who I think was called Simon was greatly entertaining. Well worth a trip. I have already recommended to a few friends.
A very good tour, guides inject a little humour into the tours. Lots of steps to go down the cavern so just bear that in mind and quite cool down there wouldn't advise shorts and t-shirts. The boys loved the whole tour and were rattling about it all through lunch. Well worth a visit.
Firstly it is what it is. Tip - buy an 'early bird combined ticket with peak cavern'. Essentially this includes a 'boat ride' with a brief look at the 'bottomless pit'. Our guide was funny and endearing so made the trip as funny as it was educational. It doesn't last long but the experience was worth it, the children loved... 更多
I went to this prior to the Easter holiday, so we had only a short wait. That is the right amount! Kids got in cheap or free, which again made the whole event the correct price. Reasonably priced and with a short wait, this was quite enjoyable. I liked the steep descent, I really liked being in a boat in... 更多
Didn't expect much from this but was very surprised. A good 1.5 hours in total from start to finish (book tickets online) take some warm clothes and boots as it does get quite cold down there. Not suitable for the immobile as it does require clambering in and out of a boat. Very funny and knowledgeable guides. Not suitable for... 更多
My partner and I visited this attraction over the easter weekend. The queue was extremely long...we ended up waiting two and a half hours for the privilege. There was nobody monitoring the queue or telling you how long you would be. A group of people joined another party at the front of the queue which was very frustrating as there... 更多
