This is a place to visit whenever you are in Keswick. Older than Stone Henge and with better views. Access is easy and it is unrestricted. There is an excellent view north-east to Blencathra and south west to Borrowdale. We have some German friends who have visited this site 13 times and will visit again next time they come to...
Walk from Keswick which takes around half an hour which is great once you get of the main road. Fantastic views from the circles beware it can get really busy to get a photo without anybody there you need to go out of season or early in the morning
It helps to have done a little research prior to visiting this location. However it is a great place to visit and, whilst nobody would suggest it being on a par with Stonehenge, it does have the advantage of being nowhere as congested.
This is a beautiful place. Surrounded by the grandeur of the mountains it is lovely to visit and have a wander around the ancient stones.
We made a circular walk from the stones of a couple of hours, not too challenging but very scenic of course.
Each time we come to Keswick we visit the stone circle, it's only a 25 min walk from Castlerigg Farm Campsite where we stay so it's our usual evening strole. It's a piecful place with magnificent views and the mood changes depending on the weather. A place to reflect and take a little time for yourself and gather your thoughts.
