We went to this museum to see the only standard roman cavalry helmet ever found in this country but found the rest of it very interesting as well. It utilises the old Northwich Workhouse buildings and much of the museum is dedicated to that. It also has small displays on some of the other industries that Northwich has enjoyed. Salt... 更多
Felt compelled to write a review on behalf of myself and the young lady that I care for as we were both very impressed with the museum, particularly the curator on shift (Phill I think his name was?). He was very enthusiastic, emphatic and made the experience very enjoyable for the both of us. It was very interesting and the... 更多
We went to a couple of the activity days they run for children over the summer holidays. They were thoroughly enjoyable. The staff were excellent with the children and made the different activities around the museum fun for them. Will certainly be making a return visit.
Delighted to find this little museum as we were in the area and had found references to workhouses researching family history. The museum is situated in the remaining buildings of the old workhouse, the ground floor shows the schoolroom and gives some stories of residents and some idea of the life of the occupants, such a difference then to see... 更多
After visiting the lion salt works I was given a 10% off voucher to visit this property and although the price was very good anyway I decided to add this as my next stop the same day. After reading reviews on here before going I was pretty dissapointed to be honest. I was expecting more information regards the actual workhouse,... 更多
Every half term or summer holiday, Weaver Hall museum put on craft activities for children. Again, this summer holiday we were not disappointed! This time it was dream catchers - my 2 boys had a great time. The dedicated volunteer staff are knowledgeable and encouraging and really engage with the children to bring out their creative potential. Depending upon the... 更多
We had a few hours to kill in Northwich and were really pleased that we chose to visit the Weaver Hall Museum - heaps to see with some very imaginative and compelling displays centered around the history of the town and the area. Although we did not have kids with us, I was pleased to see how well the displays... 更多
The museum is based in the old Workhouse and there is a lot of information about what it would have been like to live there, including their diet. I can understand why people had a fear of ending up living in the workhouse. It was built in the 1830s and closed in 1968 and parts it were demolished. You can... 更多
An enjoyable couple of hours wandering around the displays, it was interesting to see the difference in the way the 'residents' and the 'Master & Matron' lived. The layout of this workhouse, in its original form is much different to those in my local area.
Lovely informative museum Great for families and school trips Good for all ages Shame about the stupid traffic queues on london road due to new one way systems but this isn't the museums fault. Excellent excellent and excellent
