The Uxmal ruins, near Mérida, Yucatán are beautiful. A must do when you visit the city of Mérida or plan a special trip if you are going to Cancun or Playa del Carmen. They are even more wonderful when you go with someone who knows the history (my sister is a Mayan specialist). Be prepared with hat, sun block and... 更多
These ruins are magnificent! It's amazing that the Mayans could build such structures with the technology they possessed. Although, it is a sketchy drive in from the port, it is a must see!
Breathtaking barely covers it. Any history buff could spend hours here. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes because the walking can be a little rough, but well worthwhile. It's interesting to read a little about it before going because that really puts things in perspective.
What a fascinating place to see. One of my bucket list items. We had a little rain but thankful for the coolness is provided. Again went with a tour and didn't get to spend enough time here and venture through on my own. The history was amazing and the tour guide was so informative. I understand this is one of... 更多
Uxmal is worth visiting even if only for its very original, oval pyramid. But once you're there be sure to explore the palace (impressive in size) on a hill and the quarters behind the oval pyramid. The site is not as grand as Chitchen-Itza or as beautifully-decorated as Palenque but you won't be disappointed coming here.
As soon as you enter the ruin site you are hit with a massive pyramid. BAM!!!! There it is right in front of you. Unfortunately you can no longer climb it as I did almost 40 years ago. It is now more organized and regulated. Get a guide, which we did this time, and you will understand a lot more... 更多
We visited here on a 28 day tour of Central America. We had a guide travelling with us. It's an easy 60km drive from Merida or on your way to Campeche. The site is superb. The main pyramid is as impressive as Chichen Itza, though without the crowds. Some of the stonework is very good indeed. With smaller visitor numbers,... 更多
Uxmal is one of the most spectacular sets of Mayan ruins. The sites are easily accesible from Merida. Since the sites themselves need no further advertisement, let me add a plug for the guides. The rates for a guide are 700 Mexican pesos. We were blessed to have Jorge as our guide -- he was knowledgeable, humane and patient. He... 更多
This site is easily as impressive as Chichen Itza but has the added benefit in that you can climb the Great Pyramid and get a fabulous view of the entire site with the Pyramid of the Magician popping up through the trees. The site was virtually deserted when we visited and there's a nice shop area at the entrance with... 更多
Go with a guide who can explain and interpret the history and symbols that surround you at the Temples of Uxmal. The restoration is amazing and fascinating to learn the history of a long forgotten people.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. There were no huge crowds nor any wandering pushy people trying to sell things so this place was something we were able to explore and enjoy in peace at a leisurely pace. Being able to walk around at our leisure, we were able to take our time and really take in all the details... 更多
We were really looking forward to revisiting this site, we were not disappointed. The main pyramid still has its WOW factor even though we had already been. The site is so beautiful and so full of different cravings and buildings we were still seeing new things. Uxmal is easier to view than Chichen Itza because the buildings are closer together,... 更多
