This excellent red covered bridge is a local landmark. Unfortunately it is currently closed, but one can still take photos from the roadside. One end is at HWY 148 and is not the safest place from which to view this bridge. The other end is accessed from the town of Fort Coulonge. I believe there is a plaque with historical... 更多
This may be the second largest covered bridge in Canada, but it is closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The town says that they have government funding to restore it, but there is no sign of anyone working on yet.
The history is interesting, although there isn't that much to see (unless you know stuff about architecture/building techniques). What an incredible sight to see for the first time, the longest covered bridge I had ever seen. We stayed right across the street from it so had plenty of opportunity to enjoy it. Unfortunately it was closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, I would have loved to stroll across it. Lovely to imagine the past with couples courting... 更多
I have wondered at this bridge numerous times. It is my last memory of the civilized world as I escape... 更多
