This was a worthwhile detour from Green Gables. Best part was walking the paths and seeing where L.M. Montgomery lived and walked. I liked seeing the foundation of the house. Not a must do, but I'm glad we went.
It is a great pity that the home was not preserved. All that is left is the foundation. The old schoolhouse location has only trees all over it. :-(
The site has beautiful landscaping and is probably worth a visit if you're into the history of Anne of Green Gables. Unfortunately for us, we kind of stumbled upon it by following the trail from the Parks Canada Green Gables site which is just up the road. We purchased a multi park, all day pass at the Parks Canada gate,... 更多
The home is operated by Montgomery's family, who give a small tour in the bookstore. It is a wonderful walk to the foundation, and it is in a picturesque location.
If you are going to Anne of Green Gables House, it is worth it to add on a pass to see the L.M. Montgomery's Cavendish National Historic Site. The grounds are well kept and are maintained by Montgomery's family (maternal cousins). There is a nice book store and it is operated by family- they even took the time to give... 更多
There are several buildings on the property that have been restored or well maintained. The main house is set up as a museum of the time period as well as the stable / barn area. If you read the book then this is one of the venues that would allow you to better visualize the backdrop for the story. It... 更多
Strange but true to find what remains of a house from years gone by. The grounds are amazing, giving you the feeling of life by when LM Montgomery walked about. Some history signs guide your way, lovely book shop on premises and I felt it was well worth the small fee as I landed when a story teller who works... 更多
We visited this site as part of a package deal with Green Gables. You had the choice of walking through the forest or driving around to the site. I was disappointed that there was no house standing but the pathway from the bookstore to the foundation had excerpts from her journals. Each one described the place where you were standing.
This is where you end up if you take a walk thru Haunted Woods from Green Gables OR you can just park here and visit the homestead and museum w/out visiting Green Gables. The gift shop is small but a must stop and see. Descendant of LMM will give a talk about history. I definitely recommend listening to her and... 更多
