This villa was designed by the famous Palladio after which Thomas Jefferson style his designs. You can tour the main level and enjoy all the frescoes but the furnishings are not of the period. No photos are allowed inside. On a dark rainy day, it is hard to see the frescoes as the lighting is limited.
Check the limited visiting hours, as this villa is well worth visiting - you see the genius of Palladio's design set in beautiful gardens. We would have liked to explore the lower floors too, but these weren't open. There is a bus stop nearby but check the frequency for the return trip.
Villa Foscari is only open to the public on Saturday and Tuesday mornings from 9.00 to 12.00. We travelled from Padua on the 53 bus leaving at 8.25 and arriving at Malcontenta at 9.20. We nearly missed the bus as we waited at the wrong bus stop. Do not go to stand 11 as the express bus to Venice leaves... 更多
