We took the moderate path. There are 3 routes to choose. (Easy, moderate and hard) Everyone did fine, their are many benches and spots to sit on the way up or down and the entire hike back and forth was roughly 2 miles, I believe. The views are incredible!!!
We visited late one afternoon with the intention of walking to the falls. The visitor centre is located about a mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The parking situation was total chaos, and by the time we had safely parked up we were already tired. We walked to the visitor centre made use of the facilities. The whole area was... 更多
Love the hikes to the water falls ! But will tell you it's a HIKE straight uphill when you are going to see the fall from the bottoms and not the top. Have you walking /hiking boots on . And plenty of water in the summer , a very warm jacket in the fall/winter! The waterfalls are to die for... 更多
The first view of a small part of Linville Falls is a short (1/2 mile) and easy hike from the visitors center. After crossing a bridge with wonderful views of the river the hike is slightly uphill, but easy. I was here in late October and the colors on the trees were beautiful. At the first stop, a view of... 更多
The area of the falls is very beautiful. The falls themselves are gorgeous. It is a bit strenuous to hike but well worth the time and effort.
Seasonally opening times. Good maps of the walks and falls. Friendly staff with useful information. Rest Rooms available in season. port-o-potties during off season..
We saw someone in a wheelchair on the path to the falls. I do not feel the path was wheelchair friendly, let alone getting to the falls! However, the falls were beautiful, especially in the fall. Visitors center has restrooms and sells firewood, but closes at 5 pm!
Linville Falls, almost did not go because it was September and was afraid it would not be much to see, as many waterfalls almost dry up that time of year. We did this Oct 10th 2016 and was so pleasantly surprised to see the leaves starting to change color, unexpected because so many other areas had not started changing yet.... 更多
The "moderate" hike is 1.6 miles round trip and offers great views. The "difficult" hike is .5 miles and the most difficult part is the stairs, not the path. The "easy" hike is only .3 miles (Dugger Creek Falls). It had a little bit of a steep rocky incline, but not tough. Would not be easy for anyone with knee... 更多
The falls are magnificent, even in low-water conditions! The trails are well-marked and fairly easy to moderate. Pit toilets. Visitor center is small. Much better than what was available when traveling/hiking 50 years ago, however!
