This was a very nice Museum to learn about the history of Pottery and the different types. Also they have a small selection of samples of some of the Potters work. Also great clean restrooms!! Worth the 2.50 admission.
We stopped here a couple of years ago and we have since stopped every time we pass Seagrove. They have offerings of most the area potters, maps of all the potteries and are always helpful when asked. We always leave here with purchases and they pack our wares were safely.
The Pottery Center was a good place to start our tour of the local potteries. They have many of the local potters pieces on display with information on each one. This helps you decide on which ones to drive to because there are so, so many. It's a fairly new building.
We visited with a 6 year old, so the visit was brief. We have heard of the potteries at Seagrove for many years and thought we would stop and check it out. It was interesting to learn some of the history of the area and see the pieces on display. Would like to return when I could stay longer.
A great place to learn about all the potters and their different styles and glazes, with a nice selection of practical and decorative pottery to purchase as well. Well worth a first stop in Seagrove.
I was staying in nearby town of Biscoe and was desperate for something to do. I was unaware of the history of pottery in the area and enjoyed learning about it in this nice small museum. Some work by local potters is on display and handy brochures with maps of studio/galleries can be picked up here. Very small entrance fee.
